Helen’s Trust – Free Will Month

Throughout April we are doing a Free Will Month for Helen’s Trust.

Helen’s Trust is a local charity which offers help to people in North Derbyshire and the High Peak with terminal illness who want to stay at home in the final stages of their illness. We can help people of any age, with a perceived prognosis of less than 6 months and with any terminal illness. These can include cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, Heart Disease, Alzheimer’s and multiple end of life conditions.

Free Wills Month works by you giving an upfront donation of either £95 for a single Will or £150 for mirror Wills (or more if you wish) direct to Helen’s Trust and we will write a basic Will free of charge. A basic Will includes;

  • Your Personal details
  • Your chosen Executors & Trustees
  • Your chosen Beneficiaries i.e. wife/husband then children/grandchildren etc.
  • Your choice of dispatch e.g. cremation/burial etc.
  • Appointing guardians for your children
  • Simple bequests
  • A gift to Helen’s Trust (and any other chosen charities)

Should you require a more in depth Will, say a Trust clause for minors, Trust clauses for the gifting of property and the like, then additional charges will apply.These extra charges do not form part of the donation and do attract VAT at the current published rate.

Helen’s Trust say “our ethos is that everyone should have the opportunity and choice to die in the familiar surroundings of home, if that is their wish. Latest research shows that were they able to choose, 56% of people would wish to die at home. The reality is that only 20% of people actually do.

Our services are free to our beneficiaries and are not means tested because we believe this can cause unnecessary delays in providing the help people need. We provide care, equipment and support and in fact we will consider requests for anything that will make the difference in enabling our beneficiary to stay in their own home.

We also provide signposting services for individuals and act as a resource in pulling packages of care together. We are proud of our effective working relationships with our local adult hospices, Ashgate Hospicecare and Blythe House, and how we work collaboratively with them when they refer to us for support at home.”

We were introduced to Helen’s Trust last year and were warmed to hear although they are a team of 6 they have over 70 volunteers! We encourage you to make your Will whilst supporting Helen’s Trust. To arrange an appointment or to discuss the Free Wills Month further please call us on either 01909510751 or 01246471900.

Alternatively, if you or someone you know may benefit from Helen’s Trust services then please do contact them which you can do through their website https://www.helenstrust.org.uk/contact/

I have used Buchanan & Co to finalise my divorce, they are very helpful & professional. I must make a special mention about Julia Gibbons, who has provided me with expert help & has always been on hand to answer any questions I had. I can't recommend Buchanans enough!
